The government has currently informed that only 15% population belongs to the general category out of the total figure. Meanwhile, 27.13% population belongs to the Backward class caste (OBCs). In terms of extreme backwardness (EBCs), 36.1% of the population belongs to this group. As per the census, the current population of Bihar is 13,07,25,310 of which 3,54,63,936 (27%) are from the OBC category and 4,70,80,514 (36%) are from the EBC Category.
