| From a modest beginning, the BGSBU library is on the verge of a real take off, as it combines the virtues of classical reading / study with the strength of 21st Century technology. It is growing in new fields, while consolidating on the gains of the past. It is trying to reach out to members and create new ways to fulfill their information requirement. The University is committed to “reach the unreached” with state-of-art infrastructure, modern library and the right ambience for teaching learning process.
BGSB University is devoted to provide quality Library Services. BGSB University has been admitted as an institutional member of DELNET (Developing Library Network) -an international Network.
The BGSB University has acquired 512 kbps Band width VSAT connectivity from Huges Escort Communications Limited (HECL). This connection is provided to various educational institutions to facilitate centralized Internet connectivity for Library members including students, teachers and other staff members alike. Efforts are on to provide Cyberary facility in the campus. The University has been admitted as an institutional member of DELNET (Developing Library Network)- an international Network, which has connected the University Library to about 1200 libraries across the world.
Online access to the University users’ remains open for 24 hour, ours is the second University library in the state of Jammu & Kashmir which has been registered as an institutional member by the DELNET. Since the inception of DELNET in 1988 only eight institutions have so far been registered as institutional members from this state.
Installation of DELNET facility is satisfying the major information requirement of students, research scholars and faculty members. Central Library of BGSB University is now extensively facilitating Inter-Library Loan (ILL) and Document Delivery facility to its users because online-access to more than the six million records of databases is now available. This venture is mitigating the severe shortage of books and journals which have been prohibitively costly due to the widening gap between the growing demand for literature and the limits of available resources.
